The Best Upcoming Videogames And VR News: These Are The Highlights From E3!
This week, gamers from all over the world have assembled in L.A. to take part in the biggest gaming convention in the world: E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo).
Held from June 13 to June 16, E3 has attracted over 68,000 participants and the biggest companies in the gaming industry presented their new consoles, games and upcoming projects.
Here's everything you need to know!
Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality has reached the masses in the last couple of years - at least since the Playstation VR, many consumers have finally got a VR device in their households.
But what was always lacking were the graphics - while the experience of VR itself is incredibly fun, the graphics always seemed to be outdated by at least 10 years, looking like minecraft or gameboy animations.
In recent months, the gaming developers have finally created VR version of big games like Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Mario Kart.
This gives the players not only a great storyline and a gaming series that they're familiar with, but also more detailed and realistic graphics.
Other new VR games include DOOM VFR, Bravo Team, Arktika.1 , GT Sport, Lone Echo, and Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV.
Xbox One X
Microsoft introduced the new Xbox One X - disclosing the secret about the alias "Project Scorpio".
It's essentially a smaller, faster, updated Version of the current Xbox with true 4K quality.
The Xbox One X is supposed to be the most powerful gaming console to date - with "40% more power than any other console."
An enhanced CPU, 12GB graphic memory and a 6 Teraflop GPU enable this incredible performance.
Although critics were rather disappointed to see only minimal and internal changes after the big hype around project scorpio, the Xbox One X has quickly become one of the most desired items on amazon this week.
It will be released on the 7th of November this year.
NEW GAMES
There were hundreds of new games announced and available for testing during E3.
Every major gaming developer like Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Bethesda and more have announced their newest projects.
Below are some of the new game releases that caught my attention:
- Assassins Creed Origins -
The newest installment of the Assassin's Creed franchise takes place in ancient Egypt.
Since the series was first introduced in 2007, Ubisoft had come up with a sequel every year - until 2016.
Last year, they took a break to completely update the game, and that's why Assassin's Creed Origins has become one of the most talked about Games from E3. It's expected with great anticipation and will launch at the end of October this year.
- Destiny 2 -
The sequel to Bungie's space action shooter will come with several improvements.
To be released in fall 2017, Destiny 2 will focus more on the storyline, and comes with a more complex leveling up system as well as new types of enemies and weapon categories. There are also other minor changes, for example not having to go into orbit to change destinations.
- Forza Motorsport 7 -
This is a must for everyone who loves racing games: The newest installment of Forza Motorsport by Microsoft showcases some incredible graphics and intense gameplay.
It aims to be "the most comprehensive automotive game ever made"!
It's extremely realistic, not only due to the 4K graphics but also small things like rain or mist that increase the difficulty during races.
- God of War 4 -
God of War comes with an impressive trailer and an interactive website and has created a big hype.
The story of Kratos, who once climbed the Olymp and fought greek gods, returns on another mission. This time he is accompanied by his son, and the story focuses on their relationship as well as Kratos' past and how it defined him.
- Spider Man -
Our favorite superhero returns! Insomniac brings the spider to PS4 consoles in early 2018.
Based in modern-day New York City, the player takes on the role of Peter Parker who discovers his superpowers and tries to protect the citizens.
As spider man, you climb and swing around the roofs in New York city, and using your webs to fight villains!
- Far Cry 5 -
The Far Cry Series is back - this time, in the US.
Located in the fictional Hope County, Montana, the player will conquer enemy's territory, fight wild animals, build weapons, and explore the endless challenges of the map!
- Super Mario Odyssey -
Nintendo has released their newest Super Mario Game for the Nintendo Twitch.
It's their first sandbox-style 3D game since 2002. Jam-packed with new worlds, storylines, abilities and surprises, Super Mario Odyssey offers an open-ended game with countless challenges!
- Call of Duty World War II -
Call of Duty is of course one of the biggest gaming series in the world. And another sequel is always exciting!
This time, the game takes us back to WWII. Aside from general improvements and the usual gameplay, there is also a new War Mode, which is an opportunity for the player to test out some deeper strategies.
Which of these releases are you looking forward to the most?
